Gualchos, is a municipality formed by two population centers, Gualchos and Castell de Ferro, belonging to the province of Granada, to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. This municipality has an area of ​​31.03 km².

What to visit in Gualchos and Castell de Ferro:

They have been restored, although they are no longer used.
The Plaza de Gualchos, is the neurological center of the town where residents, tourists and travelers meet, here you can stop for a while and rest on one of its benches, have a drink in a restaurant, or bar, etc. The fountain of the Plaza de Gualchos, being built in 1843, has four spouts, an urban fountain, located on the side of the Plaza de la Constitución de Gualchos.
The Mirador de Gualchos offers incredible views of the town itself, the Sierra de Lújar, the castle of Castell de Ferro and the Mediterranean Sea.
If you like hiking, you can take routes in the municipality such as the Rijana-Rambla de Gualchos trail, a short-distance trail, where the level of difficulty is medium.
The Old Town Hall of Gualchos, today houses the House of Culture, where cultural activities take place. The new Town Hall, located in the town of Castell de Ferro, was moved because it has more inhabitants than Gualchos, to offer a closer service to its population, although these towns are only separated by about 5 km. Fortress with a rectangular floor plan, from which the town, part of the bay, and its coasts were dominated. It was part of the defense of the Nasrid kingdom, after the conquest it was occupied to prevent the landing of Moors from Barbary, pirates, etc. It began to be destroyed in 1836 due to the explosion that occurred in its magazine, due to a lightning strike. It was also damaged by English troops during the Spanish War of Independence. Today it is in an advanced state of deterioration. It has been listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1985.
